Welcome to the Lambeeth Battery Energy Storage System website
Sirius Renewable Energy Limited is seeking to develop a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) on land south of Pembroke Power Station and Valero Oil Refinery, near Wallaston Green, approximately 4km west of Pembroke, south Pembrokeshire.
The BESS will have an export capacity of 49.9MVA and will connect to the Electrical Grid Network via an existing overhead line located approximately 500m to the south of Pembroke Power Station.
Including the access and cable route, the site consists of approximately 3.5ha of gently sloping agricultural land set close to RWE’s Pembroke Power Station and the Valero Pembroke Oil Refinery. The Greenlink Converter Station (which is currently under construction) is located immediately adjacent to the western boundary of the site. The surrounding context is a mix of agricultural and power-petrochemical related industrial uses.
A planning application will be submitted to Pembrokeshire County Council (PCC) for consent under the Planning (Wales) Act 2015 for construction of the proposed BESS.
The proposed BESS will have capacity to store and export electricity to the local distribution network for up to two hours. This represents:
MW capacity
homes supplied
metric tonnes of Co2 offset each year
Net Zero Strategy
“By 2035 the UK will be powered entirely by clean electricity, subject to security of supply.”
“Our power system will consist of abundant, cheap British renewables and be underpinned by flexibility including storage.”
